Complete Pictures (including undercarriage) and Video at www.4-wheelclassics.com
This 1985 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler was frame-off restored around 10 years ago and has only been driven around 6,000 miles. It was always stored inside and this thing is still in awesome condition. The body is excellent....super clean and straight. When it was restored it was professionally repainted Dark Red Metallic and the paint still looks fantastic! It has aftermarket front and rear bumpers and Bushwhacker fender flares added. All of the hardware is stainless and excellent. It has a full soft top and doors from Bestop that still looks like new. The underside is is extra clean and nicely detailed and we found no evidence of rust. The frame was plated up front to strengthen it for the extra weight of the V8 engine. Very professional and nice build with these touches.
The interior was also restored and is still in beautiful condition. It has Bestop Bucket Seats up front with high quality Covers over them. It has a large locking center console. It has a quality sound system. It has a full custom roll cage painted to match. It has a custom aluminum dash with Autometer gauges and all gauges are working. It has a B & M Ratchet Shifter. The inside of the tup was all Rhino Lined and then they added sound deadener applied under the new carpet. The headlights, taillights, brakelights, and turn signals are all working. The horn and windshield wipers work. The heater works.
Mechanically this Jeep is top notch. It runs amazing and drives great. The engine is a 5.7L 350 V8 that was totally rebuilt when this Jeep was restored. It runs smooth and strong. It was bored .40 over with Magnum roller rockers, double hump fuelie corvette heads, Edelbrock performer intake, Comp Cams mild cam, Holley 600CFM carb, MSD ignition, MSD Distributor, BeCool aluminum radiator with electric fan, and headers with dual exhaust. There was expense spared on this build. It has a Turbo 400 Automatic Transmission that shifts nice that was also rebuilt at the same time. The engine and transmission were installed using a Novak adapter kit. The transmission is mated to a rebuilt Dana 300 transfer case and the 4WD works like it should. It has the AMC 20 rear axle with 3.54 gears. The front axle is a Dana 30 with 3.54 gears. It has a 4 Inch all spring lift with Bilstein shocks and a 1 inch body lift. This is all sitting on a cool set of Mickey Thompson Aluminum Wheels with 35 Inch Mickey Thompson MTZ tires. This is an awesome build!!! This Jeep does have Power Steering and we are adding a Power Booster to the manual disk brakes.
