RARE 1971 INTERNATIONAL SCOUT 800 COMANCHE. PROTOTYPE STYLE 1.

This 1971 International Scout Comanche 800B is a very rare vehicle and is considered Prototype #1 Style. According to our research the Prototype #1 refers to the first available package/scheme available on the Comanche. It is a 2 Owner lifelong California Scout with low original miles and that says a lot about it's condition. We have all of the original Documents and it is a very highly optioned Scout. This Scout was very selectively restored, but is mostly original and appears to have all of its original metal with no rust holes and no rust issues in the normal places you would find on these. We actually consider this a survivor and it is the cleanest and nicest body we have seen on an original Scout 800. To clarify the restoration process it was repainted at some point, the engine compartment was detailed and the underside was cleaned and detailed. It still sports it's original color scheme and it still has all of the Comanche options which include special paint and decals (Omaha Orange and Alpine White), chrome trim, sliding rear windows, chrome rims, sport mirrors, and chrome bumpers. This particular vehicle also came with radio, dash light, and AC (compressor not installed).

The body on this Scout 800 is the nicest we have ever seen. We found no rust or rust repair anywhere and it still has the original floors, fenders, rockers, quarters with no rust issues. You will be hard pressed to find another like this. This Scout was undercoated from the factory (it is on the line ticket) and the undercoating is still in place. It was repainted at some point (we do not know when) in the original colors and the paint is in excellent condition. Extremely straight body. We did replace the original door seals because they were in rough shape. The interior looks to be all original and it is in great condition as well. Original seats are excellent, rubber floor mat is excellent with only a couple of small cracks, and the original headliner is still in place but could use some love. This is the first headliner we have seen intact in one of these Scout 800's. All of the gauges work, Cigarette Lighter works, lights, blinkers, wipers work. As mentioned before AC compressor not installed so AC not working. Very clean and original interior.

Mechanically this truck runs and drives great! It is easy to tell it is an original low mileage vehicle and and that it was cared for when you are behind the wheel driving it. It really holds the road nicely and does not wander like a-lot of these old Scouts do. The engine runs excellent and starts instantly with no smoke or red flags. We are pretty certain it is the original engine. It is a 232 ci straight 6 cylinder. We were told it was recently tuned and serviced by the previous owner and based on how it runs we agree. It still has the original Holley carb on it and it is a very stock and very original engine. The Transmission is the T14 3 Speed manual that shifts nice and it is mated to the DANA 20 Transfer Case. The axles are the original DANA 30 and 27 with3.73 Gears. It also has the factory Warn Locking Hubs. Over all this is one of the nicest Scout 800s you will find and I doubt it can be replicated.
